What’s Up Wednesday {7.29.20}

1. What we’re eating this week:

Since it is the end of the month I am trying to clean out our fridge, freezer, and pantry. So that means we are eating breakfast for dinner, leftovers, and anything I can come up with from the ingredients we have on hand.

2. What I’m Reminiscing about:

All the time I got to spend with my family! I loved seeing them and spending time with them.

But I’m reminiscing a lot about the last 10 years. John and I will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary Friday and we have been talking a lot about how great the past 10 years have been.

The things we accomplished, the memories we’ve made, and what we want the next 10 years to look like.

3. WHAT I’M LOVING:

I’m loving these beauty products! If you missed my Friday Favorites post from last week go check it out! you will love at least one of these products if not all of them!

Also, I’ve been loving setting up my new Simplified planners! I am excited to be starting new planners for the academic year.

A new planner always invites new goals and a clean start!

I am LOVING these Contingo water bottles that double as snack holders! We use them anytime we head out. Caroline loves them and so do I!

I’ve also been loving fresh flowers on my desk. They are just so pretty to see as I’m working. 🙂

4. WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:

Caroline started ballet this past month and she loves it! I’m so happy that she loves it! She truly has amazed me. I wasn’t sure how she would do with leaving me and heading into the ballet class without me but you guys she is killing it!

The other little girls have been crying for their mom and the moms have had to go in which I totally understand and that could be me any day but Caroline has just gone in like a trooper and loves each class.

I’m truly so proud of her! My husband and I laugh because we say that swim lessons prepared her for this because let’s be honest nothing is as hard as that. Swim lessons are what we now call baby boot camp. lol!

We’ve also been loving getting back into our routine of going to Mass on Saturday evenings and going on our morning walks on weekend mornings.

5. WHAT I’M DREADING:

This time of year I always start to think more and more about hurricanes. I pray that Florida and all of America stay safe from the terrible damage a hurricane creates. My family is living proof of how terrible a hurricane truly can be. Hurricane Michael hit them 2 years ago and they are still repairing their home to this day.

I don’t want to be a downer but man I dread every time I go to a store having to put on my mask. I know it’s silly and I’m appreciative of the fact that I don’t have to wear one all day but I just don’t like wearing it.

6. WHAT I’M WORKING ON:

I’ve been working on my blog more and more. I want to grow it and allow it to be more successful.

7. WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:

I am excited for just having a normal month. We don’t have too much going on in August and sometimes I just love that.

August used to be such a hard month for me as long as I can remember from starting school and ending summer to starting to teach and ending a nice long break. But now that I stay home with sweet Caroline and she is not in school yet, August is usually pretty sweet to me.

8. WHAT I’M Reading/watching:

My reading took a huge hit this month. I have been reading Girl, Wash you’re Face, listening to Home by Julie Andrews, All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin, and The Coddling of the American Mind.

Each book has been good in its own way and I will be doing a book review next week! 🙂

We watched way more TV this past month than we normally do. lol! We started and finished The Morning Show, Hamilton, Netflix documentary Fear City, Space Force, and Selling Sunset.

Wow, you guys that’s a LOT of TV in one month! If you haven’t watched The Morning Show you need to. That series was one of the best dramas we have ever watched and not to mention it stars Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Steve Carrell. Soo soo good!!!

9. What I’m listening to:

Currently, I’m listening to Home by Julie Andrews and my usual French Cooking Pandora Radio station. Love, love love!

10. WHAT I’M WEARING:

All of my fun Walmart finds lol! If you didn’t get a chance to read everything I found at Walmart you need to! I was blown away by the stuff we found! Go check it out!

11. WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:

We will be celebrating our 10th Anniversary!!! I’m very excited about this. Originally we were going to go stay somewhere but with the Coronavirus, we decided to do something different. I will share with you next week what we decided to do!

12. WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:

Getting back into the rhythm of life. I loved having my family here but it always takes me some time to get back into our routines, so I’m excited to be doing that.

We don’t really have anything big planned in August. We truly miss being able to go to places like Disney, SeaWorld, the Zoo. Well, I guess technically we could go but who wants to wear a mask outside in 100-degree weather?! Not me!

13. WHAT ELSE IS NEW:

There is not a lot of “new” around here. Caroline is talking a mile a minute and loving ballet. John is working more than ever and I’m so proud of him. And for me I’m truly trying to dive deeper into everything blogging! 🙂

I don’t like wearing my mask either; especially during our 90+ degree days that have all blended into one really long heatwave here in CT. We’re seeing signs reminding us to prepare for hurricane season up here too (which I think is a bit crazy as it’s pretty rare for us to have any actual damage done other than power outages– which we seem to have all the time anyway). I just read Julie Andrews book Home Work this past month which focuses on her professional career and have been thinking of going back to read Home to learn about her childhood (though she did quickly recap it in a few pages at the beginning of her second book).

It’s a good book but I’m not crazy about it. I have tremendous respect for Julie Andrews but understanding her childhood I have even more respect for her. 🙂

Aww hope your daughter is enjoying dance! I️ want to get my girls back in dance classes this fall, they love it! Enjoy your anniversary – 10 years is a special celebration! <3

I feel for you guys living in Florida during hurricane season. We’ve had a few huge ones hit us all the way here in Georgia during my lifetime so I can’t imagine what it must be like living in Florida through one. Opal and Andrew were so scary here so I can’t imagine how much worse they were when they hit land in Florida first. Y’all stay safe down there!

    • Holley on July 29, 2020 at 5:10 pm

Thanks so much! Thankfully I haven’t been through anything like Hurrican Michael.

I’m dreading hurricane season too! I’m not necessarily as scared of the storm as I am the residual effects…like no power during our Florida summer!! And The Morning Show!!! Loved it too!!!

    • Holley on July 29, 2020 at 5:09 pm

I totally get that! OMG wasn’t it just sooooo good! I’m so sad they had to postpone taping the next season.
