Tuesday Talk: Nail Polish

When I checked my calendar to see what I planned for this blog post I wasn’t sure if I should change the topic due to everything happening in our world. I decided not to. I decided it was ok to take a moment to talk about something fun, something thought of before COVID-19 social distancing.

Today I’m linking up with Ashley and Ericka for a Tuesday Talk. And I’m going to talk about nail polish!

You guys I love nail polish!

I used to have two huge shoeboxes full of it but I’ve simplified and gotten rid of more than half. But I still have a fun and nice little container of my favorite nail polishes and a little contained with all the tools.

When John and I lived in Naples, FL, we lived right by Target. I would literally have to drive by it to get home. And well, back then, I didn’t have Caroline and John was studying all the time so Target and I were good old buddies. It seemed that every time I left Target I left with new nail polish. Was that smart of me? Probably not, but I did gather some pretty fun nail polishes along the way.

Nail polish for me goes all the back to elementary school. My sister and I used to paint our nails all the time, only to have to remove it because we attended Catholic school and couldn’t wear nail polish. And some of my best memories with my cousin were spending hours setting up our nail polishes in color order then picking the perfect color to paint our nails.

Ok, I’m sure you get the point, I love nail polish!

I like to paint my nails at night when John and I are sitting watching a show using this fun lap board. I’m sure you can find these online. I found mine in the Target Dollar Section.

I’ve found that if I paint my nails during the day, they will most definitely be ruined.

But my toenails, I paint those with Caroline any time! She loves to paint her nails too! It’s so fun having a little girly girl!

My favorite nail polishes lately have been from Essie. I was on the hunt for a long time looking for the perfect top coat and I think I’ve come pretty close to perfect!

Essie makes a great gel top coat that seems to last a while.

Now for me, awhile means more than 2 days. I don’t know how people go longer than 3 or 4 days without having to put a new coat on.

My cuticles are so dry, must be from all this hand washing.

I’ve learned that when my nails are painted I need to use gloves for washing the dishes and gloves for cleaning, especially with disinfectant spray.

Other than Essie, I love OPI. They’ve always made really good nail polishes and haven’t disappointed me. Here are some of my favs.

And last but not least I ‘ve loved OPI by Sephora.

I bought these when John and I got married.

I actually wore this one on our wedding day and had my bridesmaids wear this one.

Why I had them all wear the same one I don’t know lol because now I wouldn’t care lol!

These are both 10 years old and still work great. I think I’ve read 7 years should be the max for nail polish…oh well, they still work!

Ok, now that I’ve had my run on all about nail polishes, what is your favorite? Do you do your own nails or go to a salon?

I guess right now we’re all doing our own nails, huh?

Leave me a comment with your favorite nail polish! I’d love to find some new fun colors!

Just found your blog from the WUW link up – I’ll be checking back daily and just followed on instagram. Love your posts!

I paint my nails weekly – I use sally hansen instadri polish, but use the Essie no chip top coat and it seems to last about a week for me!
