Friday Favorites No. 72

Happy Friday!! I’m so glad to see the weekend in my future! This week has been a doozy, and I am more than ready for a chilled-out weekend ahead!

I didn’t feel great this week and honestly didn’t realize just how sick I was with this back-to-school cold until it hit me HARD on Wednesday afternoon. Brain fog, sneezing, stuffy nose, exhaustion, headache, body aches…all of it. It was no fun!

Thankfully, I didn’t let it completely stop me from having some fun this week, but I also listened to my body and took some much-needed time to rest Wednesday afternoon and Thursday.

This week, I realized I’m also still trying to figure out my footing with this whole Kate-going-to-school thing! I really thought I would have so much more time to myself to get things done, but WOW…four hours goes by so fast! I’m learning how to manage my time, figure out a new routine, and decide what I actually want these four hours to look like. If you’ve ever been in this stage of life, please feel free to share any advice! I’m all ears!

Needless to say, I feel like we’ve been going, going, going all week, so a couple of slower days sound pretty perfect right about now.

But before I officially kick off the weekend, it’s time for some Friday Favorites! I have a few fun things from this week that I’m excited to share, so let’s get into it!

I’m so sad that Dolly Parton passed away this week. She is truly one of my favorite celebrities, and I have adored her for years, just like so many other people have.

But one thing I have loved in the midst of such sad news is seeing just how much love has been poured out for her. And of course, the love would be there for her! She was truly an icon for so many!

I’ve loved seeing story after story about the kind of person she was and just how many people she inspired throughout her life.

And one of my favorite things has been seeing all of her wonderful quotes pop up everywhere! Dolly really had such a way with words. She was funny, wise, confident, kind, and completely herself—and I think that’s one of the reasons so many people loved her.

So for my Friday Favorite this week, I’m sharing a few of my favorite Dolly quotes I’ve come across. I think we could all use a little more Dolly wisdom in our lives. ❤️

And I have to share one of my favorite little moments I’ve seen from her life. Dolly was on a talk show when an older gentleman in the audience, who was balding, asked her if she thought he should get a wig or what he should do about his thinning hair.

And Dolly, without missing a beat, said, “Just because you lost your fuzz doesn’t mean you’re not a peach.”

Gosh, I laughed out loud when I heard her say that! And it was the way she said it too—in that sweet country accent, giggling right along with him. It was just so Dolly.

Those are the kinds of Dolly moments I think I’ll miss the most. Just her being completely herself—clever, funny, kind, and sharing her light with the world wherever she went. ❤️

This is definitely one of the most random things I’ve done recently, but the other day I got to be on a local morning news talk show! I was part of a panel of moms asking questions to two social media experts about the risks and dangers of kids being online.

It was such a fun experience! I loved getting to see the news station and the set, meeting the other moms on the panel, and getting to ask questions about something that I think so many of us parents are trying to navigate right now.

I also learned a thing or two from the experience, which was an added bonus! It was just such a fun and different thing to get to do, and I would absolutely love the chance to do something like this again!

So I bought this dress from Target the other day in black, and I seriously cannot stop wearing it! Of course, I didn’t take a picture of myself in the black one…but I DID take a picture when I tried on the green one. 😂

And now I’m thinking I might just have to go back and get the green one too because I love the black one that much! It’s so comfy, so easy, and one of those dresses you can just throw on and go.

I also think it’s going to be so cute this fall with a jean jacket and some sneakers! I have a feeling I’m going to be wearing this one on repeat for a while!

I went to Sam’s Club earlier this week, and I LOVED seeing all the fun fall stuff they had out! I snapped lots of random pictures because apparently that’s what I do now when I see cute seasonal things. 😂

But one thing I actually bought was these adorable baby dolls! I knew the girls would love them and actually play with them, and sure enough, they have been playing with them all week. They are so cute, and it’s been so sweet watching the girls play with them together!

So, of course, the baby dolls—and maybe all the fun fall finds at Sam’s Club in general—had to make my Friday Favorites this week!

And my last little Friday Favorite this week is this super small, easy vacuum I grabbed off Amazon for under $30!

I’ve been using this thing all over my house since it arrived. Now, is it the greatest vacuum in the world? No. 😂 But for under $30, I have been so impressed with how handy it is! It’s so easy to grab and walk around the house with, and I love using it to get into all those little crevices and random spots that are so hard to reach with a regular vacuum.

It’s definitely not replacing my everyday vacuum, but for quick little cleanups and hard-to-reach spaces, I’ve been loving it! For under $30, I thought it was such a fun Amazon find!
