Friday Favorites No. 32- Good Friday Edition

Are you looking for materials to help you pray or ways to help you journal? Today I’m sharing the materials I use every day for my morning prayer and journal time. Come check them out!

Since today is Good Friday, I wasn’t sure if I was going to write about some of my favorite things or just do a simple short piece but as I was thinking about it, I decided it would be nice to share with you some of my favorite things I use for my morning devotions and prayer.

First off, I want to note there have been times in my life where I wasn’t able to get in a morning devotion and I knew that was a season in my life but John and I have always gotten in our prayer together as a couple in the mornings. For us, this is so important and we’ve been going 10 years strong with it!

Every weekday morning, I try to wake up around 4:30 am or 5:00 am. Our daughter is an early riser so I like to get some quiet time in before she gets up.

I start my morning looking at my calendar and writing down things I need to accomplish then I head into reading the bible in some form.

Lately, I’ve been reading My Daily Catholic Bible. My goal is to read the whole bible in 2 years and this has the whole bible laid out so you can read it in a year. I’m being realistic with myself and giving myself 2 years lol!

Next, I like to open Hoda Kotb’s book and read the quote and excerpt of the day. She usually gives me a good laugh and inspires me. I love that!

Then I head over to this little guy, my Simple Abundance book. I found this at a thrift store and knew I would love it! It had been sitting in my Amazon cart for some time, so this was a real find! I’ve loved every entry so far!

Once I’m done reading I like to take a moment and journal whether it be one sentence or many. It’s so nice to get my thoughts down on paper! I’ve been a journaler ever since I can remember! 🙂 Use this code for $10 off your purchase on EmilyLey.com.

And last but not least I like to take 5-10 minutes of just sitting in the stillness if possible.

Some other materials I use for prayer are my Every Sacred Sunday devotional. I love this because it has the Mass reading laid out so nicely and a place to journal. These girls are really just the sweetest and it’s amazing what they’ve created!

John and I have prayed Liturgy of the Hours since we were married. We like to use our books but often use our app for prayer. It’s really so nice and if we don’t get to these prayers we like to say a quick prayer together usually holding hands before he walks out the door.

I will tell you though most days we pray Liturgy of the Hours, it only takes about 7 minutes but we make it a priority. We actually try to drop what we’re doing when it’s time to pray together knowing we will get back to that task soon enough. And it’s worth every second. 🙂

I hope you and your family have a beautiful Good Friday! I’d love to take time to pray for you or any intention you have today! Leave a comment and we will pray for you!

All my love!
