Hi, my friends! I’m so excited to write this post for you–3 Simple Steps to the Perfect Family Christmas Card!
Last year was the first time we made Christmas cards as a family and I was a total newbie to the Christmas card game.
I wanted to share with you guys some of the things I learned and how we got our Christmas cards together with not much effort!
First off I need to share what we wore!
Outfits

When it came to organizing and buying our outfits for the card I was totally lost. I didn’t realize how hard it would be for me to coordinate our outfits.

I didn’t want us to be matchy matchy and I didn’t want us to not match at all.

What I realized was I needed to simplify the process and start with one person’s outfit. And that person last year was Caroline! My Mother-in-law had bought her the cutest top and jeans that were Christmasy already.

I took Caroline’s top with me to JCrew Factory and continued adding our outfits piece by piece. I was able to find a really cute sweater for myself that I knew would look great with jeans and a necklace and I found a hunter green button down for John that matched the green in Caroline’s shirt.

I was still unsure if all this would look good together so I went ahead and made friends in the store, asked some other women what they thought of the combo and they loved it! I was so happy with how the comb turned out!
Picture
When it came to taking the picture, I did not want to spend 100’s of dollars paying a professional photographer for our photos so instead, I planned a time when I knew my sister Emily would be in town so that she could take our pictures.

Last year, we didn’t go anywhere crazy to take our pictures we just did them in my Grandfather’s backyard. And they turned out perfect!

And do you want to know the craziest thing?! My sister took our pictures on her iPhone!!!
I couldn’t believe it when I saw how these pictures turned out! I was so thankful for the fabulous camera on the iPhone!
Card

I don’t know if I will ever use a different card-maker other than Costco! It was soooo easy to create our cards at Costco’s Photo Center online. And the cards turned out great!

Once the cards were printed I used my handy Address Book and boom sent out our Christmas cards.
I kept a few cards on reserve just in case we received a card from someone and I didn’t send one to them.

I love how they turned out and I can’t wait to share with you our cards this year!

Just remember you don’t have to go anywhere crazy or fancy to take your pictures, your clothes don’t need to be matchy matchy, and you don’t even need a professional photographer to create a beautiful easy Christmas card!
I created a fun and easy printable just for you as a guide for taking the perfect family Christmas card pictures!
